Our Story

Hi, my name is Hannah, the creator of Deer Sage Therapy.

This space was created for people who feel deeply, especially when the world feels loud, overwhelming, or too fast.

The name Deer Sage was chosen with care. The deer represents gentleness, safety, and attuned awareness. They embody a quiet, responsive presence, qualities that are essential in emotional healing and regulation. In trauma-informed perspectives, deer often symbolize heightened sensitivity and awareness, while their natural shedding and regrowth of antlers reflects renewal, resilience, and growth. Sage has long been associated with healing, clarity, and restoration. Together, Deer Sage represents gentle strength, cyclical growth, and intentional healing, the foundation of this work.

For a long time, creativity was the place I went when words weren’t enough. Art wasn’t about making something “good” or impressive; it was about release, grounding, and making sense of emotions that didn’t always have a clear shape. Over time, I realized how powerful creativity can be as a mental health tool, even (and especially) for people who don’t consider themselves artists.

I created this website as a gentle space where mental health and creativity meet. A place that offers tools, prompts, and resources that support healing without pressure, perfection, or comparison. Everything shared here is rooted in the belief that caring for your mental health doesn’t have to be complicated and that creativity can be a quiet, steady form of self-care.

This isn’t a space for quick fixes or forced positivity. It’s a space for softness, honesty, and exploration. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, burnout, emotional overwhelm, or simply looking for a more mindful way to create, you’re welcome here.

If something here helps you feel a little more grounded, understood, or connected to yourself, then this space is doing exactly what it was meant to do.
